    بچپن   میں   ایک   عینک   ملا   کرتی   تھی۔   ساتھ   میں   کچھ   کارڈز   ملتے   تھے۔   عینک   میں   دو   رنگ   ہوتے   تھے۔   لال   اور   نیلا۔   جب   عینک   لگا   کر کارڈز   پر   نظر   ڈالتے   تھے   تو   جیسے   سب   کچھ   زندہ   اور   جاندار   نظر   آنے   لگتا   تھا۔   ہر   عینک   ایسے   ہی   انسان   کی   دنیا   کو   جاندار   بناتی   ہے۔   دھوپ   میں   کالے   شیشے   آنکھوں   کو   محفوظ   رکھتے   ہیں   پر   جب   دھوپ   نہیں   ہوتی   تو   وہی   شیشے   ہر   شے   کو   اندھیرے   میں   ڈبو   دیتے   ہیں۔   دیکھنے   والے   کیا   دیکھنا   چاہتے   ہیں   اس   اختیار   کا   استعمال   وہ   اپنی   عینک   سے   کرتے   ہیں۔   تاریخ   ایسی   ہی   دور   اندیش   اور   حساس   عینکوں سے   دیکھی   گئی   اور   دیکھنے   والوں   نے   جب   اپنی   نظر   کو   الفاظ   میں   قید   کیا   تو   گویا   حقیقت   کے   ایک   پہلو   کو   قید   کیا۔   جب   مارکسسٹ   سارے   مسائل   کی   جڑ     انسانوں   کے   غیر   مساوی   نظام   تقسیم   کو   گردانتے   ہیں   تو   وہ   بھی   محض   ایک   پہلو   کی   بات   کرتے ہیں۔   جب     س

This is such an interesting term. I came across it while doing a comparative study between the secular and the islamic paradigm. Having worked closely with a few religious organisations my understanding of this term was not very different from the researcher I read, the only difference being that she was questioning the secular conscious because of its non-committant attitude towards principles and permanence while I questioned the same in those who claim to be religious. The secular conscious or mindset then is something not limited to the apparently liberal . Its something which plagues all. Its best defined with this word 'non-committance'. Not commiting to boundaries does not make a system or people more flexible. It actually makes them more rigid. Those who do not commit to a path, do not plan to reach anywhere.
