‘To do’ is ‘to know’: It’s hightime that our obsession in marrying knowledge with a degree was addressed and resolved. No one can deny that specialising in a specific area of interest should be possible but to attach a stamp of Knowledge to every degree holder and to make them the  judges of what should be known and what knowledge is! That! Is something which is very problematic! The whole seerah/ life of our Prophet redefined what knowledge is for us. The prophet ( Saw) was not an Alim, not a poet, not a writer nor a specialist in any specific area of knowledge. He was a messenger of divine Knowledge. The source, the base! He did what he was taught! He was illiterate yet when told by Gabriel to “iqra”. He read!(verb;recited) “ the revelation suddenly came to him while he was in the cave of Hira'. The ordered and structured position of molecules in a substance is known as ‘lattice’. The molecules keep moving in every substance yet the ‘ lattice’ works as a shaping or structuring force or pattern. There is a pattern, a structure, an order to every single aspect of life in this world. The pattern is the same, the mark is of but one designer! There is a key to every secret, a step in every structure. And to each ‘lattice’ the key is in surrender! #havefaith #surrender

Back to the basics: Nowadays we often tend to disregard the importance and influence of language as a primary medium for Communication. Comparing the evolution of different words in English, Urdu and Arabic I came across a distinct selective or a rather ostracising element/tone in languages belonging to some specific races or cultures. It’s us the people who use the  means or mediums to Communicate with each other and in doing so try to make our medium/ mode as effective as possible. Effectiveness of a medium is directly related to whatever was the aim of that Communication. If the aim was to control, the language as a medium to Control will become more and more ostracised with each step up the ladder of power. If the aim is to better a society and its people then language becomes merely a facilitating and inclusive tool which makes easier to value togetherness than to celebrate exclusivity!

میں سے مجھ تک؛  سفرِ آگہی! میں کون ہوں؟ میں کیوں ہوں؟ میں  انکار کرتی ہوں! میں  یقین  رکھتی ہوں! میں  اقرار کرتی ہوں! میں  یہ چاہتی ہوں! میں یہ پاتی ہوں! میں ہی کیوں آخر؟ میں ہی  کیوں سمجھوں؟ میں ہی  کیوں  بڑھوں؟! میں ہی  کیوں کروں؟؟؟! کیوں کروں؟ کروں؟! میں! ہاں میں! میں۔۔۔ پر مجھے ۔۔ مجھے سمجھ آتی ہے۔ مجھے کچھ کرنا ہے ! مجھے ہی کرنا ہے، مجھے ہی بڑھنا ہے ! مجھ  سے ہی چلنا ہے سب! مجھ ہی میں طاقت ہے! مجھ ہی میں ہمت ہے! اسی لئے اب ‘میں’ سے نہیں ، ‘مجھ ‘سے بڑھے گا کام! ‘مجھ’ سے فرق پڑتا ہے! ثمین صدف۔

اے مسافر! آرزو کا راستہ کیسا لگا؟ زیرِ پائے شوق پہلا آبلہ کیسا لگا؟ اُڑتے بادل کے تعاقب کا نتیجہ کیا رہا؟ عشق میں دیوانگی کا تجربہ کیسا لگا؟ دو جہاں دامن میں بھر لینے کی خواہش کیا ہوئی؟ اپنی باہوں کا ِسمٹتا دائرہ کیسا لگا؟ تم کہ تھے مظلوم کے حامی ، تمہارا کیا بنا؟ جب ہوا ظالم کے حق میں فیصلہ ، کیسا لگا؟ زندگی کو تم سمجھتے تھے ہنسی کی داستاں داستاں پر آنسوؤں کا تبصرہ کیسا لگا؟ کیسے کیسے خواب دیکھے پہلی پہلی عمر میں اور جب اُترا جوانی کا نشہ ، کیسا لگا؟ خوش ہوا کرتے تھے عاجزؔ تم کھلونے توڑ کر اب جو ٹوٹا ہے انا کا آئنہ کیسا لگا؟ (Poet unknown) اچھا لگا مانا کہ رستہ تھا کٹھن، سفرِ آرزو کا پھر بھی، آرزوِ سفر کا ہونا بھی ، اچھا لگا! مانا کہ رِس رہاہے آبلہ، پاؤں  تلے اب تلک پھر بھی ، آبلہ پا چلنا، اچھا لگا۔ اُڑتے بادل کے تعاقب میں ٹھوکر لگ گئی۔ پھر بھی ٹھوکر کھا کے سنبھلنا، اچھا لگا! عشق میں دیوانگی نے ، تنہا کردیا۔ پھر بھی، جو عجز پایا عشق سے، اچھا لگا! دو جہاں دامن میں نہ بھر پائے ہم پھر بھی ، دل آگہی سے بھر گیا

Sometimes oppression in this world is the very  justice the oppressed have been seeking. For it is through its severity only that they are able to shift  their vision from the world/ others to themselves. It is only when they are able to see themselves merely as a part of a whole that justice is understood. And it is only then that justice is served! It’s not about you. It never was!
